BNP wants to hold V Day rally

The BNP wants to organise a colourful procession and hold a rally of Freedom Fighters to mark the Victory Day on December 16.
“We hope that the government will give us permission to bring out a colourful procession and hold a rally of freedom fighters on the Victory Day on December 16,” said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday.
He said this while talking to reporters after a joint meeting of the party’s Naya Paltan office in the capital.
Mirza Fakhrul said, the venue of the meeting and procession would depend
on permission of the administrations. He said the party would seek permission from the administrations concerned to observe the programmes.
The BNP leader also announced other programmes of his party to mark the Fall of Autocracy Day on December 6, Martyrs Intellectual Day on December 14 and Victory Day on December 16.
As part of the programme, Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal, an associate body of BNP, will organise the rally of Freedom Fighters on December 16.
The other programmes of the party: include placing of wreaths at the mazar of party founder Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, hoisting of party and national flags at party offices, holding discussion meeting and bringing out procession.
Earlier, the BNP wanted to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan to mark the “National Revolution and Solidarity Day” early November, but they were not given permission to hold the rally.
