BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League Advisory Council member and former Railway Minister Suranjit Sengupta, MP, on Friday alleged that BNP has been instigating politics of violence in the country.
Pointing at Begum Khaleda Zia, Suranjit Sengupta said, “Return to democratic movement shunning the path of politics of clashes and violence.
Otherwise, its consequence will be disastrous.”
“BNP has been continuing its efforts as to how instability can be created in the country’s politics,” he said adding: “Begum Khaleda Zia has been instigating the politics of violence, terrorism and clashes while appearing before the court by spreading panic.”
Suranjit Sengupta, a senior parliamentarian of the ruling Awami League, brought this allegation against BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
Bangabandhu Academy organised the discussion on current politics at the auditorium of the Institution of Diploma Engineers at Kakrail in the capital with its organising secretary Barrister Sajjad Hossain in the chair.
Dhaka City Awami League vice-president Faezuddin Miah, Samyabadi Dal central leader Haroon Chowdhury and freedom fighter Abdul Hye Kanu were the discussants, among others.
He said, “You (Khaleda Zia) should have to prove that you haven’t misappropriated the money meant for the orphans. Prove yourself non-guilty appearing before the court. We will receive you with garlands.”
Stating that the January 5 public meeting of Awami League is pre-scheduled, the senior Awami League leader said, “We shall observe the day (January 5) as the Day of Victory for Democracy. Your party (BNP) can organise public meeting on any other day. Apply to the administration and in that case we have nothing to say.”
