BNP urged to join national polls shunning conditions

Awami League led 14-party alliance’s spokesperson Mohammed Nasim on Tuesday called upon BNP leaders to accept people’s verdict by joining next national election with giving up all kind of conditions.
“They (BNP) now have been tall talking but it sure, at the election time, they would join it…So I’m requesting them to give up all their preconditions and join the upcoming general election,” he said.
He told journalists after paying tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his grave at Tungipara in Gopalganj on behalf of the 14-party alliance marking the National Mourning Day.
The election would also be held in December this year in line with the country’s constitution as like the polls are held in Europe, America and India, Nasim, also Health and Family Welfare Minister, said, hoping all political parties would participate in next general election.
Expressing his optimism about the participation of BNP in the election, he said, “Though the party is raising many conditions but I think they would join polls”.
Nasim urged BNP leaders to keep faith in people of the country as they would vote for their preferred party and AL will also accept defeat if people don’t elect them.
“We won’t go beyond constitution… So please get ready for the election according to constitution,” he added.
Jatiya Shamajtantrik Dal (JSD) President and Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, General Secretary of Shamyabadi Dal Dilip Barua, General Secretary of Bangladesh workers Party Fazle Hossain Badsha were also present, among others.
Inu urged the pro-liberation force to get united to hold an election free of razakars, militants and anti liberation forces.
A munajat was also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of August 15 martyrs.
