UNB, Dhaka :
Awami League senior leader Suranjit Sengupta on Friday said it will be very difficult for BNP to survive in politics if it fails to bring a radical change in it. “If BNP doesn’t bring a radical change in their politics, political outlook, I’ll be very difficult for BNP to survive in politics,” he said.
Suranjit, also the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law Ministry, was addressing a discussion at the Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh in the city. The AL leader further said, “The political forces that support war crimes, terrorism and arson attacks won’t exist as there has been a massive change in the country’s political culture.” Dismissing BNP’s reaction to the capital punishment of its leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury by the Appellate Division as political vengeance, Suranjit said the question of vengeance against any party does not arise as there was no existence of any party named BNP in 1971.
It is a verdict against the person who had been involved in mass killing and war crimes during the Liberation War. Observing that the credibility of the verdict among the mass people is very high as they overwhelmingly welcomed it, Suranjit said the nation has now got rid of stigma and curse with this judgment.
