BNP tries to make party, alliance stronger

The BNP is trying to increase its organisational power and to make the 20-party alliance stronger and more active in the national interests.
The party insiders said, after the national council of the ruling Awami League, the political environment is likely to change sharply. The ruling party high command is now speaking about the next polls. In these situations, BNP cannot sit idle.
The BNP plans to arrange a mass rally in the Suhrawardy Udyan of the city to mark its historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7.
Some senior leaders of the party said, if we get permission, lakhs of workers and supporters of the BNP will be mustered. The party central leadership wants to revive its activists by arranging such showdown in different areas of the country.
 “Awami League high command has asked their leaders to prepare themselves for the next election. We have welcomed the call. The BNP is now devising measures to make the organisation stronger. The government should create a suitable political environment to hold a fair and free national election. Then they will realize the reality,” Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, the Standing Committee member of the BNP told it to The New Nation yesterday.
Sources said, the senior leaders of BNP are now busy to cement the party’s grassroots committees.
BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia directed the party Vice-Chairman Mohammad Shahjahan to reorganise all district committees after completing all other unit bodies like Union and Upazila committees by the end of November.
When contacted, Mohammad Shahjahan told The New Nation, “We are reorganising our grassroots level under the directions of the party chief. We shall hopefully complete the work in time.”
The probable leaders for the important posts of those bodies are now busy with lobbing with senior BNP leaders to get their desire posts.
In addition, Begum Khaleda Zia also advised to make the BNP led 20-party alliances more united and active.
To implement the plan, the BNP on Sunday has called for a meeting of the general secretaries of the alliance parties. The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Nayapaltan central office of BNP at 12pm.
When contacted, M. Golam Mustafa Bhuiyan, the Secretary General of the Bangladesh NAP, an ally of the alliance, told The New Nation, “The ruling Awami League refused the dialogue call to hold an acceptable election. They seemed to cling the power by any means. In this situation, the BNP may want to set the next course of action. The scheduled meeting of the alliance leaders will discuss the matter.”
M. Aminur Rahman, the General Secretary of Bangladesh Kalyan Party, also an ally of BNP led alliance, told The New Nation, “The main agenda of the meeting may find out the way to start next phase of movement demanding fresh national polls soon.”
