The BNP on Tuesday announced two hours sit-in programme across the country on March 2, protesting the government’s decision to hike gas price by 22.7 per cent.
BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at the party’s Naya Paltan office in the capital in a press conference.
The two hours sit-in programme would start at 10:00am on March 2, he said. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, however, told the journalists that the name of the venue would be known later.
“The government is anti-people and has no accountability. So, do they whatever they think,” said Rizvi.
He labeled the decision of gas price hike, as an undemocratic and authoritarian sign.
“The government is deaf, does not want to hear the cries of the poor,” he said.
The BNP leader also condemned the police action against the protesters of two leftwing political parties who observed strike yesterday.
