The BNP is going to declare the names of standing committee members and the names of the vice-chairmen this week. To hide resentment of the party grassroots, the party chief is taking time in this respect, sources said.
“It is a long time since our council was held. The full committee of our party is yet not declared. Party men at every level are in the state of disappointment. We hope our chairperson Begum
Khaleda Zia will form the full committee soon,” Lt .General (rtd) Mahbubur Rahman, the standing committee member of BNP, told The New Nation yesterday.
The councillors of the party have given power to Begum Khaleda Zia to form the party’s new central committee.
BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal told The New Nation, ” The chairperson may announce the names of party’s next standing committee members and the vice-chairmen’.
Insiders said, the party men everywhere expressed their resentment and disappointment. So far the party has announced 40 posts of the new committee, including Secretary General, Joint Secretarty Generals, Organising and Joint Organising Secretaries.
Sources said, BNP Vice-Chairman Shah Moazzem Hossain, Selima Rahman, Major (rtd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf, Abdullah Al Noman, Sadik Hossain Khoka, now Chairperson’s Advisor Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Khandakar Mahbub Hossain and former Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed are in the good book for standing committee.
The probable names for Vice-Chairmen are Enam Ahmed Chowdhury, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, Ruhul Alam Chowdhury, Abdul Awal Mintu, Ahmed Azam Khan, Mahmudul Hasan, Professor MA Mannan, Barrister Shahjahan Omar, Dr. Osman Faruk, Mosaddek Ali Falu, Fajlur Rahman Patol, Joynal Abdin, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, TM Gias Uddin, Aman Ullah Aman, Mohammad Shahjahan, Dr. Asaduzzaman Ripon, Barkotullah Bulu, Mizanur Rahman Minu and Joynal Abdin Faruk, among others.
