The BNP high command is now busy to prepare front body committees before the party’s full committee. The process has annoyed many of the party leaders and activists, sources said.
One of the senior leaders preferring anonymity told The New Nation that the party chief might have thought restructuring of the front body committees is more important before the declaration of the central committee.
Meanwhile, most of the party leaders and workers are suffering from deep frustration over the delay in declaring the central committee.
Some senior leaders close to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia said, the party chief is taking preparation to declare the new committees of the front bodies of Jubo Dal, Sechchhasebok Dal, Mahila Dal and Krishak Dal
The term of all of those committees were expired for years. The leaders and activists of the front bodies become fade up with the expired committees. They have thought that the party high ups will restructure their bodies after declaring BNP’s full committee. But the present move to declare the front body committees have made them astonished.
Sources said, BNP leader Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anny will be nominated the president of the Jubo Dal, while the incumbent general secretary Saiful Alam Nirob will retain the same post. Former Chhatra Dal vice president Nurul Islam Nayan
will be made the organising secretary of Jubo Dal.
Shafiul Bari Babu, the present organising secretary of Sechchasevok Dal and the former Chhatra Dal president Abdul Quader Bhuian Jewel will be made as president and general secretary respectively of the new committee of Sechchhasebok Dal.
Two probable committees for Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal have been submitted to the party chairperson’s office. Both the committees proposed the name of present president Nur-e-Ara Safa for the same post.
On the other hand, one committee proposed the name of present general secretary Shirin Sultanas name in the same post, while the other committee recommended present Dhaka city unit president of the body Sultana Ahmed as the general secretary.
However, many of the party leaders have accused Sultana Ahmed’s inactive role in the past. They alleged that Sulatana Ahmed was not the right person for the post of General Secretary. The high command will soon take decision in this regard.
For restructuring of Krishak Dal, BNP chairperson’s advisor Shamsuzzaman Dudu and senior leader Mohammad Shahjahan are in the discussion as the next president, while Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Shajahan Mian Samrat and other former Chhatra Dal leaders names are in talks as the general secretary.
BNP Standing Committee member Brigadier General (rtd) ASM Hannan Shah told The New Nation,” The councilors have given our party chief full power to form next committee. She also deserves power to declare front body committees. She may declare those committees soon. .”
The party councillors on March 19 at the national council have given power to its Chairperson to form the BNP’s central committee. But after two months the party chief has only prepared 40 posts of the committee.
The highest policy making forum of the party, the national standing committee, is also yet to declare.
