BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League Presidium Member and Health Minister Mohammed Nasim hoped that BNP and other political parties will take part in the coming national election to be held as per the constitution.
“We want fair election as per provision of the constitution,” he said in an exclusive interview with Voice of America (VoA) in Washington, according to a press release of Bangladesh Embassy received here on Sunday.
Nasim said the concept of non-party caretaker government was introduced experimentally, but the system did not succeed, it rather failed as the defeated party did not accept the election results under this system.
“So, we can’t continue with this experiment. The nation is tired, the people are tired and we are tired of this system,” he said.
The Awami League leader said the Election Commission will conduct the election and the administration will be placed under the commission for three months, which will have the authority to change OCs and DCs if it deems necessary for fair election.
The current government, he said, will act as an interim government during the election
and will only perform routine work as per the constitution.
