Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member and 14-party alliance spokesperson Amir Hossain Amu on Tuesday said BNP will gain no benefit by lodging complaints with foreigners.
“BNP will gain nothing by complaining to foreigners. Bangladesh is an independent country. Nothing beyond the constitution will take place here,” he told a discussion as the chief guest marking the 47th death anniversary of Father of The Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal organized the discussion at the National Press Club in the city.
The veteran AL leader said BNP founder Ziaur Rahman had grabbed the state power in an illegal way, deprived the country`s people of their voting right and started politics of killing, disappearance and corruption.
Amu said after killing Bangabandhu, the four basic principles were ignored and Ziaur Rahman had conspired to destroy the spirit of the Liberation War. He had tried to turn Bangladesh into Pakistan, he added, reports BSS.
Amu said a syndicate has increased prices of commodities. They are hatching conspiracy against the country and the incumbent government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“We will remain cautious against any kind of plot,” he said and urged the leaders and activists of 14-party alliance to be united under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
AL Presidium Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya Bir Bikram said Khandaker Mostak and Ziaur Rahman did not want independence of Bangladesh. So, after the Liberation War they killed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he added.
He said BNP-Jamaat had planned to kill of AL President Sheikh Hasina through grenade attacks at Bangabandhu Avenue on Aug 21in 2004. “Now they are hatching conspiracy, we will remain cautious against their plot.”
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASAD) President Hasanul Haq Inu said BNP-Jamaat wants to turn Bangladesh into a Taliban state through terrorism and militancy.
He urged all pro-liberation forces to be united against the anti-liberation elements to protect independence of the country.
Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua presided over the discussion while 14-party alliance senior leaders Anisur Rahman Mollik, Dr Shahadat Hossain, Ejaz Ahmed Mukta, SK Sikder, Rizaur Rashid Reza and Partha Sarthi Chakraborty, among others, spoke in the meeting.
