The BNP has not given any reaction till Wednesday evening on the Supreme Court’s verdict upholding death penalty for its standing committee member Salauddin Quader Chowdhury for crimes committed against humanity during Liberation War in 1971.
When asked about reaction, BNP’s spokesperson Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon on Wednesday evening said that he had not got any instruction in this regard from the party’s high-up till filing of the report at about 10:00 pm. “I will inform you (journalists) if the party high-up instructs me to give any reaction on this issue,” he said.
Earlier on July 29, BNP alleged that their leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury had become a victim of political vengeance after the Supreme Court upheld his death penalty. “We are aggrieved, upset and saddened by the verdict,” Dr Ripon said in the party’s official reaction to the verdict on that day.
