Hundreds of leaders of BNP associated organizations staged demonstration and took out a procession from Karnaphuli Garden City at Shantinagar in capital.
They paraded the adjacent roads before a rally at the same area lead by its Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
The BNP leaders demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the party’s imprisoned Chairperson Khaleda Zia and withdrawal of cases
and scrapping sentences against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. The demonstration started in the afternoon on Wednesday.
Addressing the rally, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that the government had jailed Khaleda by illegally convicting her out of political vengeance.
He said, “The government endangered her life as she had fought for democracy and people’s rights.”
Rizvi Ahmed demanded immediate release of Khaleda for her proper treatment at a hospital of her choice.
Dhaka south city BNP Joint Secretary General Arifur Rahman Nadim, Swechchhasebok Dal leader Nazrul Islam, Juba Dal leader Sohel Ahmed and Chhatra Dal leader Razu Ahmed, among others, were present.
