Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Sunday blamed that BNP is spreading “confusing messages” among people over coronavirus.
The information minister was addressing a view-exchange meeting with journalists on the contemporary affairs held at the Secretariat here. Information Secretary Kamrun Nahar was present at the meeting.
Mentioning that the government has taken various measures to stop the spread of coronavirus here, the information minister said considering the circumstances, the government has taken all necessary steps to this end.
“Air connectivity has already been suspended with the rest of the world.
Other measures have been taken too,” he said.
Coming down heavily on BNP for spreading “confusing messages’ among people over coronavirus, Hasan said nobody should do politics capitalising the country’s hard situation but BNP is spreading “confusing and irresponsible messages’ among people over coronavirus.
He said now all political parties should come forward to tackle the coronavirus staying above their political thoughts.
The AL joint general secretary said while the whole world is going through a catastrophic situation, BNP is spreading misleading information among people.
“I humbly request all the BNP men – to stand by people. If you have any suggestion, please give it to the government,” he said.
Replying to a question, Hasan said the Bangladesh Television is airing different advertisements, prepared by the information ministry, on coronavirus aiming to make common people aware of the deadly virus.
“The advertisements will be sent to other TV channels too for airing,” he added.
Responding to another question whether any initiative would be taken to protect journalists from coronavirus, the information minister said steps would be taken in consultation with the health minister so that safety tools could be distributed among journalists.
About the postponement of the Chattogram City election and by-elections in some constituencies, he said the Election Commission (EC) has taken a time-befitting decision to this end due to coronavirus.
