The BNP on Friday said, it sees no ray of hopes of political consensus after the dialogue between the ruling party and the Jatiya Oikyafront was held on Thursday.
“People found some light of hope about the dialogue. But the government’s persistent and stubborn attitude about Oikyafront’s seven points demand shattered all hopes,” said BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office.
He said, without freeing BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia from jail, the election will not be inclusive and acceptable.
“The national polls sans Khaleda Zia will be suicidal. Without a neutral government conducting the polls, it would not be free, fair and acceptable,” he said.
Rizvi said, the government is trying to prove that they are too honest to hold the inclusive polls by holding dialogue with political parties.
On the other hand, they are conducting mass arrest and campaign against the BNP and other political parties.
“After the ruling party’s dialogue with Jatiya Oikyafront, the police on Thursday night arrested Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Tangail district unit
President Saleh Mohammad Ethen. It proved, the government has no base without using police force,” Rizvi said.
The BNP leader warned if the government remains stubborn and negative to the Oikyafront’s seven points, the people of the country will compel them to accept the seven points through tough movement in streets.
BNP central leaders Abul Khair Bhuiyan, Abdus Salam, Abdus Salam Azad and Munir Hossain, among otheres, were present in the press briefing.
