BNP Standing Committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has said that we have proved again there is no democracy in the country by participating in the two city corporation election in Dhaka concluded recently.
He said this during a discussion meeting with BNP-backed councilor candidates in Dhaka South City Corporation election in a community center in the city’s Nayapalton on Sunday afternoon.
The BNP leader said, “It is our success that we have proved there is no
democracy in the country. It is not possible to conduct free and fair election under this government.
He urged the BNP leaders and activists to get ready for launching a mass movement for Khaleda’s release from jail.
“It’s not possible to restore democracy keeping ‘mother of democracy’ Khaleda Zia in jail. We must free Khaleda Zia first to bring back democracy and people’s rights under her leadership,” he said.
Dr Mosharraf called upon the people of all walks of life to get united for launching movement in greater interest.
He said, “The country is passing through a very critical Juncture as the ruling party men have shattered the economy by indulging in widespread plundering and corruption.”
BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Joint Secretary General Habib-Un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Women Party President Afroza Abbas, BNP central leader Abdus Salam Azad, Rafiq Sikder, Shirin Sultana and others were also present.
