BNP policy-makers on pressure for strong movement

Top policymakers of the BNP are under pressure to organise tough agitation to compel the government to free party Chairperson Khaleda Zia and to hold the next general election under neutral government.
“The grassroots leaders stressed the party’s highest policy making body to take preparation for tough agitation to release Khaleda Zia from jail and to compel AL to hold the next general polls under neutral government. They also suggested for taking utmost preparation for the election,” said
Dr. Sakwat Hossain Jibon, Organising Secretary of Sylhet Division after the meeting of the party’s top policy makers with grassroots leaders for the second day on Saturday.
The party started meeting with grassroots leaders since Friday to seek their opinions about the release of the party’s jailed Chairperson Khaleda Zia and about the next general election.
The grassroots leaders asked the top leaders to strengthen the party’s different districts those are suffering from weak organisational condition.
The closed-door meeting of district level leaders of Chattogram, Sylhet and Comilla divisions at the party Chairperson’s Gulshan office in Dhaka began around 9:30am and concluded at 1:15 pm.
In the day’s second session, the central leaders have met with leaders of Dhaka, Mymensingh and Faridpur divisions from 3:00pm to 7:30pm.
The policymakers held meetings with grassroots leaders of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna and Barishal divisions on Friday.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presided over the meeting.
The meeting sources said, the grassroots leaders have given first and top priority to start movement to release of Khaleda Zia.
President, vice-president, general secretary, joint secretary and organising secretary from each organisational district out a total 78 organisational districts participated in the separate meetings during the two days with the members of BNP standing committee.
BNP standing committee members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, among others, were present.
