BNP plans peaceful movement

Staff Reporter :After forming the central executive committee, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will move its activities peacefully through series of programme in light of innovative ‘Vision-2030’.BNP will hold rallies and processions in the capital and other cities and towns of the country to compel the government to arrange a national polls with the participation of all political parties of the country, sources said.The party will create pressure on the government by organizing different rallies and other programs, they said.One of the senior leaders of the party said on condition of anonymity, the party’s next course of action is to restart its movement on the streets throughout country. As a part of the plan, the party has called for nationwide rally on Monday to protest the  arrest warrant against the party chief Khaleda Zia in a case filed against her and other leaders on charge of arson attack on a vehicle in the capital’s Jatrabari area last year.The ‘Vision-2030′ is full of positive political agenda to create a shinning future for the nation, he stressed. The party chief called for a dialogue between the AL and the BNP to reach a decision for holding national polls to form the government through the Parliament election, he said. The upcoming movement will start in the last half of April or early May. In the new strategy, the BNP will try to convince the police that the rallies will not be harmful for the law and order, they said. So, the leader said, the government will cooperate with the BNP in executing peaceful public meeting and mass rallies in the capital. The party high-ups strictly directed the leaders and the activists not to involve in any type of violence in the movement. Last year none stopped blockade when it grew violence and claimed many lives by hurling petrol bombs into public vehicles. The party is now cautiously avoiding violence, although the party high-ups accused the government of inciting violence.The BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain told The New Nation on Saturday, “BNP Chairperson will announce its rest of the committees anytime. Then the new standing committee will finalize the strategy of the future movement in the first meeting of the party’s new national executive committee.””There is no elected government in the country. There is no democracy here. Our movement to restore democracy only,’ Dr. Mosharraf said.Some senior leaders of the BNP told Khaleda Zia, “BNP should plan to start its new phase of movement with the demand of resignation of the present election commissioners.”The Party Vice-Chairman Abdullah Al Noman said, the EC is executing the prescription of the ruling party’s interests.”The EC are totally biased towards the government. It is now working for the ruling party candidates in UP’s, city corporations and municipalities polls,” he said.
