BNP’s pre-announced mass hunger strike has started demanding release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and giving her permission to go abroad for better treatment yesterday. Leaders and activists of the South District BNP took part in the program at at Kalamia Bazar Liza Garden on Saturday and the North and Mohanagar unit at the Kazi Deuri Nasimon Bhaban party office ground respectively. Convener of Mahanagar BNP Dr. Shahadat Hossain and Member Secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar participated in the program at Nasimon Bhaban ground.
Chittagong Divisional Organizing Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Shamim and former South District BNP president Jafrul Islam Chowdhury participated in the south district program. Despite the tight security of the police, there were no reports of any obstruction of the leaders and activists. The BNP leaders said that the mass fast will continue till 4 pm. Chittagong Divisional Organizing Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Shamim said that Begum Khaleda Zia was on the verge of death. She will not be allowed to go abroad for treatment, it is an inhuman act. We call on the government to immediately send him abroad to save his life.
