Terming BNP as a leaderless political party, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said, BNP is now “riding on the back” of Dr Kamal Hossain.
Quader said, “Their (BNP’s) leader is now in jail being convicted in corruption case and its acting chairperson is a fugitive. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment.”
“The leaderless BNP is now relying on Dr Kamal Hossain,” he said.
The Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said the above while visiting different puja mandaps in his electoral constituency of Kabirhat and Companyganj upazilas in Noakhali.
Referring to the exit of Bangladesh National Awami Party (NAP) and National Democratic
Party (NDP) from the BNP-led 20-party alliance, he said, “Two wickets of the alliance have already fallen. It will be seen how many more wickets will fall in the coming days.”
Zaker Party and few other political parties have showed their interest to join the Awami League-led 14-party alliance.
The decision regarding the matter will be taken in the next working committee meeting of the alliance, he said.
