Leaders and workers of the BNP entered their party’s Nayapaltan central office in the city on Saturday, 90 days after the law enforcement agencies allegedly locked it.
BNP’s Assistant Office Secretary Asadul Karim Shahin along with some other leaders and workers entered the office in the evening.
Asadul Karim Shahin told the reporters that they entered the office after breaking the lock. There is no water and electricity connection in the office, he said.
He claimed that the law enforcers locked the Nayapaltan office on January 3. Since then the law enforcers
were deployed in front of the office. However, the law enforcers were withdrawn from in front of office yesterday. Before putting the Nayapaltan office under lock and key, police picked up the party joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed and drove out 4-5 office staff from the office.
Police also locked the Gulshan office of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia on January 3 amid mounting political tension. Later, the Gulshan office was unlocked, but the Nayapaltan office was kept under lock and key until yesterday.
