Staff Reporter :Former Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Emajuddin Ahmed on Friday said that BNP will participate in the upcoming Dhaka and Chittagong city corporation elections if the Election Commission ensures a level-playing field. “So far as we know, there is still no initiative to ensure a level-playing field in city corporation elections. If the situation improves and EC ensures for level playing field, the BNP can participate in the elections,” he said emerging from a meeting with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday evening.Earlier, a seven-member delegation of pro-BNP professionals headed by Prof Emajuddin held a meeting with Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office.”At present, BNP chairperson [Khaleda Zia] is waiting to see the initiatives taken by the EC to create a congenial atmosphere,” Professor Emajuddin said.
