A Dhaka court yesterday granted one-day remand for Ariful Islam, former student leader, in a case filed over the shooting during a clash between supporters of BNP and Awami League candidates in Gopibagh area of the city on January 26.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Millat Hossain of Dhaka CMM Court passed the order on Wednesday for putting Arif on one-day remand in the case filed under the Arms Act.
Earlier, the Investigation Officer of the case produced the accused in the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
Detective Branch (DB) of police on January 30 arrested Arif from the capital’s Hatirjheel area. A gun and 50 bullets were recovered from his possession during his arrest.
