General Secretary of Awami League (AL) Obaidul Quader on Friday said the BNP has made another mistake by not attending the oath taking ceremony.
“BNP made a mistake in 2014 by boycotting the general election. It committed another blunder by not taking oath as members of the Parliament,” Obaidul Quader said.
He said this after placing wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmandi-32.
Pointing to the memorandum submitted by the Oikyafront in the Election
Commission with chorus for fresh election, he said, “They are doing what the defeated opposition parties do…this is a common post-election scenario; there is nothing new. This will cease after a few days since people voted for our party spontaneously.”
He said, “It is a disrespect to the verdict of the mass people. The party (BNP) should have respect for the people’s mandate.”
