The LGRD Minister was talking to reporters at the Election Commission (EC) when he came to submit the nomination papers of the ruling party’s candidates for the reserved women seats in Parliament. The Awami League formed the government for the second consecutive term after winning the Jan 5 national polls in a landslide amid boycott of the BNP and its allies. HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party has become the main opposition in the new Parliament. This is the first time in the past two and half decades that BNP is not in the House.
