Staff Reporter :
BNP policymakers on Monday expressed their strong resentment about the alleged nomination and committee business centering the ongoing Union Parishad polls and restructuring of the party by a section of BNP leaders.
The leaders expressed their anger over the matter at a meeting of party standing committee, the highest policymaking body on the day.
They have also demanded formation of a probe body to find out and take tough action against those who were involved in making trade in exchange
of nomination for the UP polls and inclusion of names in the central bodies.
In response to them, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who presided over the two-hour long meeting at her political office in Gulshan termed the allegation as a conspiracy to tarnish the image of the party. She alleged that some media published such news being biased with the government.
The Party Chief, however, assured the standing committee members that she would look into the matters and take necessary action.
The former Premier said that she would soon announce the full national executive committee and new policymaking body as the standing committee put emphasis on the need to form the committees immediately.
Khaleda has summoned the meeting even though she has not been able to reconstitute the top policymaking body even within 50 days of its national council session.
Khaleda Zia had been empowered by the councillors to form central committees.
The Party Chief also asked the leaders to keep eyes on government’s activities with consciousness.
