BNP leaders met foreign diplomats in Dhaka at the party Chairperson’s Gulshan office yesterday.
Sources said, the BNP leaders pointed out the political situation, the present atmosphere, national polls and the government’s interference into the judiciary, especially in the party Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s case and bail process.
The meeting started at 4:15 pm and ended by 5:10pm.
Diplomats from the United States, European Union, Japan, Australia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Spain and Netherlands took part in the meeting.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Members Dr. Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Dr. Abdul Moen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Vice-Chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo, Chairperson’s Advisors Riaz Uddin Ahmed, Sabih Uddin Ahmed, Executive Committee Members Tabith Awal and Rumin Farhana, were present.
When contacted, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, “It was a close door meeting. The media was not allowed there. So, we cannot disclose anything about our discussion.”
But few others said that it was a routine meeting. We discussed to strengthen the relationship.
