The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Tuesday placed BNP Joint Secretary General Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel on remand for a day in a murder case.
Magistrate Abdullah Al Masud granted the remand after hearing the remand plea of police. Earlier, the police of Ramna Police
Station produced Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel in the court seeking 10 days’ remand for Sohel. For that, he was shown arrested in the case filed on charge of killing private car driver Abul Kalam. The court rejected also the bail petition of the BNP leader.
According to the case statement, a petrol bomb was hurled on a private car in the city’s Ramna area on January 9, 2015, during the BNP-led 14 party’s countrywide blockade that left driver Kalam burn injured. Later, he died in a hospital of the city.
Police, in their remand petition said, Sohel’s involvement in the incident was found. Sohel was released from Keraniganj Central Jail on Monday. However, the detectives picked up him from the jail gate.
