The High Court on Sunday granted interim bail for four weeks to BNP’s Dhaka city unit member secretary Habibunnabi Khan Sohel in a case filed for vandalism.
An HC bench comprising Justice Syed AB Mahmudul Haque and Justice Mohammad Akram Hossain Chowdhury passed the order after hearing a bail petition.
Advocate Jainul Abedin stood for Sohel, while Deputy Attorney General Mohammad Bashir Ullah represented the state during the hearing.
Police arrested six people while vandalisng vehicles at
Shahbagh on September 23. Later, they reportedly confessed to the court that they damaged the vehicles at the order of their leader Sohel.
The BNP leader’s name was included in the case following their statement.
