BNP leader shot dead in Pabna

A local leader of BNP was gunned down by miscreants at Negri village in Chatmohor upazila early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Faruk Hossain, 30, general secretary of ward No. 2 of Foiljana union unit BNP, and also a member of the union parishad.
Police said, a group of miscreants opened fire on
Faruk in his sleep at his house around 1:30 am, leaving him critically injured.
Faruk was taken to Pabna Medical College Hospital where he was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. He died on the way to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Victim’s brother, Mahbub Hossain, filed a case accusing Shahjahan Ali, president of the Foiljana union unit BNP and also chairman of the same union parishad and Amirul Islam, of killing his brother.
Meanwhile, police arrested them for their suspected involvement in the killing as there had been a longstanding dispute between Faruk and Shahjahan. Office secretary of the district unit BNP Zahurul Islam protested the arrest.
