BNP leader Salauddin sent to jail

A Dhaka court yesterday refused bail to Md Salauddin Ahmed, former BNP lawmaker from Demra, and sent him to the jail in a case filed over torching a bus in 2015.
Seventh Joint Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Aftabuzzaman of Dhaka passed the order after the BNP leader surrendered in the court seeking bail in the case.
The judge in his order mentioned that the accused had been absconding from the very beginning of the case. Moreover, it is a case of arson and so his bail was rejected, the
judge added. According to the prosecution, a group of BNP-led 20-party alliance allegedly brought out a procession near Mayor Hanif Flyover in Dhaka city around 2:00pm on January 30, 2015, and torched a minibus of Modina Enterprize by hurling crude bombs.
Following the incident, Sub-Inspector Md Omar Ali of Wari Police Station filed a case against 16 BNP leaders and activists.
On August 12 the same year, Wari Police Station SI Md Shah Alam submitted a charge sheet against BNP leader (late) MK Anwar, Salauddin and 32 others.
