BNP leader Nizan, Nazim put on 5-day remand

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Thursday placed former two BNP lawmakers on a five-day remand each in a case filed with Paltan Police Station in the capital on the charge of attempt to murder a police sergeant on January 5.
The lawmakers are ABM Ashraf Uddin Nizan and Nazim Uddin Ahmed. Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) Police Inspector Dewan Ujjal Hossain produced lawmakers ABM Ashraf Uddin Nizan and Nazim Uddin Ahmed in the court with a ten-day remand prayer.

passed the order at noon after hearing on the remand plea of DB Police and the bail petitions of two former lawmakers.
The case docket says that on January 5, BNP-led 20-party alliance leaders and activists intercepted police sergeant Tanmay Sikder in front of Paltan Tower and assaulted him. His motorbike was vandalized and set on fire. Later, they threw cocktails to kill him. The following day, the case was filed with the police station about the incident. The two BNP leaders were shown arrested the in the case.
On Wednesday, DB Police detained Ashraf Uddin Nizan and Nazim Uddin while they were returning after expressing solidarity with the programme of KSJL President Abdul Kader Siddiqui at Motijheel in the city. He has been staging a sit-in programme there.
