A court here on Sunday granted bail to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s adviser Abdul Awal Mintoo in a violence case.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh passed the order after he
surrendered before the court seeking bail. The court also rejected the bail pleas of BNP joint secretary general Amanullah Aman after hearing a bail petition.
Advocate Sanaullah Miah, Masud Ahmed Talukdar and Omar Faruk Faruki stood for the BNP leaders.
On August 2, senior BNP leader Amanullah Aman was sent to jail after he surrendered before a lower seeking bail in 56 violence cases.
The hearing on the bail petition filed by Abdul Awal Mintoo was also deferred for lack of case document on the day.
On January 6 this year, a case was filed against BNP leaders Mintoo with Paltan Police Station as a bus was torched during hartal and blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance on the day.
