A BNP leader of Bogura was killed and another injured by the rival group beside Bogura-Rangpur highway in sadar upazila of Bogura district on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Apple Mahmud, 35. His elder brother Al Mamun was injured. They are sons of Abdul Mannan of Palasbari village in Gokul union.
Al Mamun is a BNP member of Gokul union Ward-3. Both the brothers were goat traders.
According to the deceased’s family, Gokul union Sechchasebak Dal former president Mizanur Rahman called Apple Mahmud and his elder brother Al Mamun at around 9:00am with a proposal to sell some goats.
When came, Mizanur Rahman along with his associates stabbed Apple Mahmud indiscriminately and he died on the spot. They also injured his elder brother Al Mamun.
Later, injured Al Mamun was rushed to Shaheed Zia Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Police said, Mizanur’s assistant Sunny was killed on February 23 in 2018. Apple Mahmud was the defendant in that murder case.
Officer in Charge (OC) of Bogura sadar thana Rezaul Karim Reza said, “Police are trying to arrest the criminals involved in the murder.”
