Post polls violence: AL leader's house torched: BNP leader, journos among 15 hurt in attacks

At least 15 people, including a BNP leader and two journalists, were injured in separate attacks centering the general election in Patuakhali’s Rangabali upazila and Lakkhipur Sadar on Wednesday, while unknown miscreants torched the house of an Awami League (AL) leader in Sirajganj district.
In Patuakhali, ruling party’s supporters carried out an attack on local BNP leader Motaleb Hawlader at Tilla in Chhotobaishdia Union in Rangabali upazila in the morning, reports our district correspondent quoting police.
They were chanting ‘no room for BNP-Rajakar Collaborator’ in the union and severely hit 40-year old Motaleb, President of BNP, Ward No. 5 of the union, on the way to his shop at Tilla.
Motaleb was admitted to a local private clinic in a critical condition. The locals, however walloped the key attacker Shakil Mridha, witnesses said.
Rangabali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Milon Krishna Mitra said that police will go for action after getting written complaint with the PS.
In Lakkhipur, at least 14 people, including two journalists and four police men, were injured in a clash between rival followers of Awami League leader Fazlur Rahman and Jubo League leader Delwar Hossain centering polls enmity at Atiatali in Sadar upazila.
The incident took place in front of a local clinic where Laharkandi Union AL General Secretary Fazlur Rahman was admitted being hit by JL leader of the same union.
Police detained 10 people for interrogation in connection with the incident, said AAM Mahtab Uddin, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Lakkhipur.
In Sirajganj, unidentified miscreants torched the house Jagadish Chandra Shah, President of Ward No 9 of Shialkol Union AL, said Sadar OC Mohammad Daud.
Police are investigating the incident by giving priority to polls related dispute or prior enmity, the OC said.
Shialkol Union AL President said that BNP men might have been involved with the fire incident after defeat in election.
But locals said that miscreants exploded cocktail and open fired near the house on December 11.
