A prominent BNP politician wanted in connection with an arson attack in 2020 has been arrested.
Enamul Haque Mithu, additional deputy commissioner (Motijheel zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said that Ishraque Hossain was nabbed from Shapla Chattar in the Motijheel area at 11.30am Wednesday.
An arrest warrant was issued against the BNP leader in connection with the case filed over the arson attack some two years ago.
Police arrested Ishraque while he was distributing leaflets, highlighting the Awami League government’s alleged failure in controlling the prices of daily essentials and against its alleged corruption.
Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal (south) took the initiative to distribute the leaflets “to create awareness among people”.
