A local leader of BNP was hacked to death by miscreants in the Ice Factory Road area under Sadarghat thana in the city on Wednesday morning.
The victim was identified as Jane Alam, 34, vice-president of Majhir Ghat unit of BNP and son of late Abdul Aziz of Chandina upazila of
Comilla district. Jahurul Islam, in-charge of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) camp, said a group of miscreants attacked Jane Alam near Muktijoddha Club in the morning and stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him injured.
Critically injured, Alam was rushed to the CMCH where doctors declared him dead around 7:00 am, said Jahurul. Police said, several stab marks were found on Alam’s body.
