Police arrested A.K.M.Haque, acting general secretary of ward 9 of Sylhet Municipality. He was arrested by the Sylhet Kotwali Model thana police from his Bagbari home on Monday night. The court ordered him to be sent to jail when he was taken to court on Tuesday.
He is reportedly facing an explosive case. Sources said the police had arrested him in the case.
Meanwhile, the Sylhet Municipal BNP leader has condemned his arrest and demanded his release. In a statement, the president of the Municipal Corporation Nasim Hussain and acting general secretary, Advocate Shamim Siddique, said that the Bnp’s leader could not sleep in his house. Police are also arresting late at night.
Leader’s of Ward has demanded the release of BNP leader Fazlul Haque.
