Police arrested a local leader of BNP from Chanda Alir More in the district town on Friday night in connection with several cases.
The arrestee was identified as Nurul Islam Nural, a district unit leader of BNP.
Officer-in-charge Habibul Islam of Sadar Police Station said on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Nurul Islam at about 9:00 pm.
