BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League Advisory Council member and former Railway Minister Suranjit Sengupta, MP, alleged that BNP-Jamaat combine was engaged in hatching conspiracy to topple an elected government. “This conspiracy would fail like that of their conspiracy to foil the January 5 national polls,” he said adding: “Awami League founded by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman would be enough to face the conspiracy”.Suranjit Sengupta, also a senior parliamentarian of the ruling Awami League (AL), said this on Friday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
Bangabandhu Academy organised the discussion on current politics at Bir Uttam Khwaza Nizamuddin auditorium at Segunbagicha in the capital with its adviser Haji Md Selim, MP, in the chair.
Former state minister for home affairs Advocate Shamsul Huq Tuku, MP, Dhaka City AL vice-president Faezuddin Miah, Samyabadi Dal central leader Haroon Chowdhury and Bangabandhu Academy secretary general Humayun Kabir Mizi were the discussants, among others.
Suranjit Sengupta said some foreign intelligence agencies including ISI (Inter-services Intelligence) of Pakistan are involved in the BNP-Jamaat combine’s new conspiracy to oust the elected government in Bangladesh. The senior AL leader called upon the democratic, progressive and secular forces to build united resistance against the evil forces under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said at a time when Bangladesh was applauded around the world as a secular state, BNP-Jamaat combine is engaged again in a conspiracy to ruin the secular fabric of the country.
Referring to recent attacks in a number of Puja Pandals in Kishoreganj district, Suranjit Sengupta said these incidents were nothing but a deep rooted conspiracy to jeopardise the age-old religious harmony in the country. He said people of the country and the law enforcers should remain vigilant to face such a conspiracy.
