Staff Reporter :The BNP has come down heavily on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her comment over the recent killings of two foreigners. The party has termed the PM’s remark ‘irresponsible’. Jamaat-e-Islami has also criticised the Prime Minister for her comment, saying that such comment is unexpected from the PM.  Sheikh Hasina at a press conference in the city on Sunday commented that the two foreign nationals – one Japanese and another Italian – have recently been killed in a planned way and the BNP-Jamaat nexus have a link to the killings.Hours after the press conference, BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami sharply reacted to the PM’s comment. “Such irresponsible remark from the government high ups over the killings would hamper the probe and also hide the real culprits,” said BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. In a press statement, the BNP leader said that the killing of the two foreign nationals reflects the poor condition of law and order situation. He asked the government not to play blame-game over the killings. He also asked to arrest and ensure punishment of real culprits through fair investigation. Meanwhile, BNP’s International Affairs Secretary and the party’s current spokesperson Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office said that his party expects responsible comments from the Prime Minister. He said that Sheikh Hasina is blaming BNP and Jamaat for the murder of two foreign nationals to hide the government’s failure. Such comment from the PM is not desirable when the investigations were going on, he added. Japanese national Kunio Hoshi was shot dead by assailants in the northern district Rangpur on Saturday within five days of a similar murder of Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella in Dhaka.Jamaat Acting Secretary General Dr Shafiqur Rahman said that the PM’s comment is unfortunate. The government has the responsibility to ensure the security of foreign nationals, but it failed to do it. The PM is trying to hide their failure through playing blame-game, claimed the Jamaat leader. He demanded fair probe and exemplary punishment to those who were involved in the two killings.
