UNB, Dhaka :
Alleging that the BNP-Jamaat clique is carrying out genocide in the name of hartal and blockade, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday said such a situation is not at all acceptable to anyone.
“May Allah give good sense to those who are burning people to death so that they stop such arson attacks…these are sheer killings and acts of genocide, and they’re accused of killing people. The BNP-Jamaat nexus has been carrying out genocide,” she said.
The Prime Minister was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the four-day 4th International Conference on Plastic Surgery or PlastiCon 2015 held at a city hotel.
Sharply criticising the ongoing killings of people through hurling petrol bombs by the BNP-Jamaat, Hasina said, “What kind of cruelty is this? What kind of politics is this? This is not politics….these are entirely terrorist and militant activities.”
She said, such brutalities cannot be tolerated which is very unfortunate, pathetic and painful. “How could a man burn another to death?”
The Prime Minister alleged that a particular quarter is providing necessary finance, training and other support to the BNP-Jamaat miscreants for committing such heinous acts.
She questioned why such pains and sufferings are inflicted on innocent people by the BNP-led 20-party allies. “If we’ve failed to run the country, then they could wage a movement against the government. But, there’s no sign of government failure in Bangladesh.”
Hasina said when the country is moving ahead in all fields while peace, stability and comfort have been restored and people have started dreaming of a better life, why such anarchy and subversive acts are being unleashed for whose interest? “This is not at all for public
interest rather for personal interest. Then why should people suffer?” Without mentioning the BNP chairperson’s name, she said why the country’s common people would have to pay for someone’s wrong political decision.
In the name of hartal and blockade, the Prime Minister said, attempts were made to create a terrific situation in the country which is beyond imagination as no one could think that a human being could burn another human being in such a way.
She said, when the BNP-Jamaat found that the people are not responding to their so-called hartal and blockade, they started hurling petrol bombs on buses, trucks, CNG auto-rickshaws, trains, private vehicles killing innocent people, including children and pregnant women as they before the January-5 election.
Hasina said, over 100 people have so far been killed and hundreds more are groaning in the burn units of different hospitals due to their indiscriminate and barbaric petrol bomb and arson attacks.
Announcing agitation programmes from undisclosed locations, they have also putting the lives of some 15 lakh SSC examinees and 4.5 students in danger.
Highly praising the tireless efforts of the physicians in the burn units across the country to save the lives of the burn injured patients, the Prime Minister expressed deep gratitude to the doctors on behalf of the nation.
