Welcoming Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming Bangladesh visit, BNP spokesman Asaduzzaman Ripon on Wednesday said the party is never engaged in anti-India politics.
“BNP never did or does anti-India politics and will not do in the future either. BNP always speaks in the interest of Bangladesh… not against India,” he said.
Addressing a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, he said BNP raised voice for Teesta water sharing and Land Boundary Agreement in the country’s interest.
Hailing Modi’s visit, he said, “BNP hopes the issues pending between Bangladesh and India will be settled through Modi’s visit. The bilateral ties between the two countries will also be strengthened further.”
Ripon, also the International Affair Secretary of the party, said BNP hopes that border killing will come to an end with the Indian Prime Minister’s Bangladesh visit.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Dhaka on June 6 on a two-day state visit.
Replying to a query whether Modi will meet BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia during his visit, Ripon said the schedule of his tour is being kept undisclosed on security ground.
BNP chairperson’s advisor Maj (retd) Mahmudul Hasan and BNP deputy organising secretary Abdus Salam Azad were, among others, present at the press briefing.
