General Secretary of Awami League and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said, BNP has failed to plunge the December 30 national election into controversy, even after knocking at the doors of its foreign friends.
“The leaders of BNP wrote letters to different countries to make the election questionable, but their effort has gone in vain,” he said.
The AL leader said this while visiting construction site of the second Kanchpur Bridge on the Dhaka-Chattogram and the Dhaka-Sylhet highways in Narayanganj’s Sonargaon upazila.
He said, “BNP has failed to gear up their anti-government movement because the people did not take their calls into account.” Replying to a query about BNP’s decision of refraining from participation in the upcoming upazila election, the minister said, no political party can sustain without taking part in election.
The heads of different countries including the UK and Switzerland welcomed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government for the fourth time.
Claiming that people would not trust the BNP’s words, Quader said BNP is engaged in negative politics and thus it will lose its foreign friends as well as the trust of the countrymen.
