Staff Reporter :The BNP has expelled two of its US-based leaders for issuing a fake statement in the name of US House Committee on Foreign Affairs and six US Congressmen. The statement expressed concern over confinement of the party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia at her political office.The two leaders are BNP’s foreign Affairs Advisers and party lobbyists– Zahid F Sarder Sadi and Dr Mojibur Rahman Majumder. Shyrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP’s press wing, on Wednesday evening confirmed the news of the expulsion, saying that BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed sent expulsion letters to them.BNP Vice-Chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka at a press conference in New York in the USA on Tuesday also informed local journalists about the party decision regarding the two advisers. The journalists were also served a copy of the expulsion letter signed by Rizvi Ahmed.Khoka said that the BNP could not hold press conference in this connection, as the party’s central office and BNP Chairperson’s office in Dhaka are confined by law enforcers. Replying to a question, he said that there might be the hands of Bangladesh government behind giving the publicity to the fake statement.Bangladeshi origin American citizens Zahid F Sarder Sadi and Dr Mojibur Rahman Majumder were appointed special advisers and party lobbyists based in the United States on November 17 in 2013.On January 8, IBTimes UK ran the fraudulent statement of the US body on Foreign Affairs and six Congressmen which was said to have been obtained from an aide of Khaleda Zia’s eldest son and BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman. Days later, the media withdrew its article and published a fresh one of the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs blasting the fraud statement. In wake of the report, the BNP announced to launch an investigation in this regard.
