The BNP will stage countrywide demonstration on Thursday demanding unconditional release of its jailed ailing chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and her proper treatment.
BNP Senior-Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced it at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office on Tuesday.
He said the demonstration would be held at Metropolitan cities including Dhaka city and district headquarters across the country.
Gazipur City Corporation areas would be out of the demonstration programme for mayoral polls.
On June 14, BNP submitted a Memorandum to Deputy Commissioners in all districts across the country for Khaleda’s release before Eid-ul-Fitr and her better treatment.
Khaleda Zia has suffered a mild stroke on June 5 in the abandoned central jail in old Dhaka.
Since then the party demanding her better treatment at the city’s United Hospital, but the government offer her Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and the Combined Military Hospital in the city.
Khaleda Zia refused to take treatment from those hospitals. She is wanting treatment only the United Hospital.
