The BNP on Saturday announced two days demonstration programme in Dhaka, metropolitan cities and district headquarters across the country.
BNP Standing Committee member and its metropolitan unit convener Mirza Abbas announced the Sunday’s programme in the morning after a joint meeting of the city unit at Nayapaltan. After it, Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu
declared the programme to be observed on Monday.
Mirza Abbas accused the government of entangling Tarique with fabricated cases in order to humiliate him out of political vengeance. Shamsuzzaman Dudu supported him in this respect.
” The government is trying to implement their political agenda by keeping Tarique Rahman away from politics. We urge the government not to harass an innocent and popular leader like Tarique Rahman filing false cases” Dudu said.
Earlier on last Thursday, a Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court issued arrest warrant against three persons, including Tarique, in a sedition case filed in 2015.
BNP central leader Golam Akbar Khandakar, Habibur Rahman Habib, Syed Emran Saleh Prince, Masud Ahmed Talukdar, Abdus Salam Azad and Taiful Islam Tipu, among others, were present.
