Staff Reporter :The BNP on Saturday demanded judicial investigation into the killing of Golam Faizullah Fahim, whom the police arrested on charge of attempt to kill Madaripur college teacher Ripon Chakrawarty. The party also turned down the Prime Minister’s accusation against Tarique Rahman that he issued a death threat to British MP Tulip Siddiq.BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said it while speaking in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the city.”The BNP always condemns all extra judicial killings,” he said. “We are demanding judicial investigation into the extra judicial killing. The government should stop it soon.” Mirza Fakhrul also said, government gave the police license of extra judicial killing. The BNP Secretary General marked the Prime Ministers speech about Tarique Rahman as low taste, discourteous, provocative and awfully vindictive one. “Sheikh Hasina brought the accusation only to mislead people and hush up public anger. It is also a new instance of autocratic attack on a political opponent with venomous words,” he said.Earlier, speaking at an iftar party on the Jatiya Press Club premises on Saturday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina criticised the British government for giving shelter to BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, saying he has link to killings in Bangladesh and giving threat to British MP Tulip Siddiq.Reacting to the Prime Minister’s comment, Fakhrul said, issuing of such a threat is now possible in Bangladesh only, but not in any well-established democratic country. “How does a person living in a country where there is the rule of law issue threats to an MP of that country and her mother and aunt? The UK is under the rule of law, not of Awami League.””We strongly protest and condemn the Prime Minister’s remarks.”BNP standing committee member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Goyeswar Chandra Roy, Central leader Abdullah Al Noman, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Selima Rahman and Chowdhury Kamal Ibn Usuf, among others, were present in the press briefing.
