BNP demands fair polls under neutral government

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has been observing protest day in the Capital’s 16 places from 11 September against price hike of daily commodities and killing of three leaders at Bhola and Narayangonj. It will continue till 27 instant.
The Khilgaon meeting held on Tuesday was part of the declared scheduled.
In the Tuesday’s meeting, thousands of leaders and activists joined the meeting with enthusiasm.
BNP also claimed that ruling Awami League (AL) and its associate organizations obstructed their mass participation in protest meeting.
On September 17 at least 10 leaders and activists of BNP including Selima Rahman, Moazzem Hossain Alal, Shama Obayed, Tabith Awal and his assistant Hasan were injured in the attack by Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League activists in Banani of the capital.
On the other hand, BNP leader Barkatullah Bulu was injured in Cumilla by AL attack also.
In the meeting, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, we don’t want to see the AL in the power any more. People of Bangladesh are struggling for daily essentials. They have destroyed the ethics and morality forwhich crimes are on rise. They have staged the great festival of corruption in the name of mega projects.
He said Bangladesh government has faced question abroad about the election. They have no way to escape.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this government should have steped down. After that, neutral government and a new Election Commission (EC) to be formed to hold a fair polls.
BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas has said that we won’t take any permission from any authority to organize any meeting. This government is not the last government. Those police officials are presenting aggressive mode will take action when new government will be formed.
In the procession the workers and the leaders were looking cheerful.
