A Correspondent :
The High Court has declared disqualified BNP nominated contender Md Moslem Uddin’s candidacy for Brahmanbaria-4 constituency (Kasba-Akhaura) from contesting the December 30 general election as his resignation from the post of upazila chairman wasn’t accepted by the government.
As a result, the participation of Muslim Uddin’s eleventh JS polls has been uncertain. The incumbent MP and Law Minister Anisul Huq is the Awami League candidate for the seat.
HC has postponed his participation as writ petition filed by his rival candidate Md. Jashim of Islami Andolon Bangladesh in the same constituency.
Earlier, the EC had granted his nomination in spite of having no acceptance of resignation from the post of upazila chairman. But the bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam passed the order and issued the rule following writ petition filed by his rival candidate on Thursday.
When contacted, Akhaura upazila unit BNP general secretary Abul Mansur Misson said that they would file an appeal to bring back the candidacy of Md Muslem Uddin.
