UNB, Dhaka :Voicing deep concern over the growing incidents of killing and other criminal activities, BNP on Monday alleged that the law and order situation in the country has collapsed.Speaking at a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also said the government will be ousted soon as people from the grassroots have started waking up.”The country has turned into a death valley as the law and order situation has completely broken down. It seems that the main target of the voter-less government is to hang onto power, no matter in which direction the country is heading towards and how many lives are lost,” he observed. Rizvi alleged that the ruling party men are carrying out repressive and destructive activities across the country after the end of the third phase of Union Parishad polls. “They’re attacking our leaders and activists and their houses.”Alongside terrorism by ruling party men, he said the incidents of killing, enforced disappearance, extrajudicial killing, child killing, rape, stealing, robbery, and stanching have marked a sharp rise. “People’s bodies are now found canals, water bodies and ditches.” The BNP leader said the day is not far away when people will give a befitting reply to government and its ‘puppet’ the Election Commission for destroying the entire election system. “People have started rising in rural areas to get back their voting rights. The misrule will end soon as the fall of this illegal government will be ensured.” About Sramik Dal’s workers rally in the city on the May Day, he said their party is taking all-out preparations to ensure a massive gathering at the rally. “We’ve started working to make worker’s rally in the city a success with the participation of huge people as BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will be present at it.” He said party central leaders will hold a meeting on Tuesday noon with the leaders of Dhaka and its adjoining districts to work out plans for successful holding of the rally.Rizvi hoped that the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will soon give Sramik Dal a permission to arrange the programme smoothly at Suhrawardy Udyan. Earlier on Sunday, the party announced to arrange a rally on May 1, marking the May Day.
